Tip of the Day 5-9-10
By · CommentsIf you plan to upgrade your RAM in your computer you need to understand that there are very specific makes and models of RAM for each computer manufactured. If you go to a computer store and buy generic RAM, it could cause your computer to become unstable. We at On Call PC Repair would recommend going to the recommended vendor section and clicking on the hyperlink you will find associated with Crucial and use the memory tool they supply on their website to find the RAM that is right for your computer, and I might want to mention at a fraction of the retail cost.
Tip of the Day 5-7-10
By · CommentsPlease make sure the contents of you computer, such as pictures, documents, tax files, music, ect., are in some way backed up. I cannot tell you how many times someone walks into my store saying their computer has crashed and they’ve lost all of their children’s pictures from the last couple of years because they are stored on the computer and nowhere else. Although we here at On Call PC Repair have a 98% success rate of recovering all of our customers data, that is no reason to not have a backup hard drive or to burn DVD’s of all your important information. If you are not sure how to backup your data so it’s safe, just comment to this post and I will help you out with a backup plan.

By · CommentsIf you are going to upgrade to Windows Version 7 make sure you have at least 2GB of RAM. Also, I would not recommend doing an upgrade, instead backup all of you data on your hard drive and to a full install of Windows 7.
Ran diagnostics on it, says memory failed
By · CommentsI have a HP i just bought last November. I have a blue screen popped on it after it crashed. Ran diagnostics on it, says memory failed. Not sure as why. But it crashes everytime I run it. Could you maybe tell me why its doing that? I fear thats a virus crashing my computer.

Windows’s explorer can’t access the web at all
By · CommentsEverything seemed to work fine until yesterday. My e-mail program (JUNO) can access the e-mail account directly, but NOT the web. AND, Windows’s explorer can’t access the web at all. *BUT*, if I use the browser, FireFox, I can check e-mail, surf the web, etc. without any trouble. All this cropped up yesterday all of a sudden. Did I change some settings somewhere? Oh, I’ve already scanned my PC for viruses using AVG. What’s the problem?
